Child Safety Standards

These are Ledger's standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). They apply to everyone who uses Ledger, an invite-only app for recording informal debts between people, operated as a sole proprietorship in Ohio, United States ("Ledger", "we", "us").
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. CSAM and any content or conduct that sexualises, abuses or exploits a minor are strictly prohibited on Ledger. There is no context in which they are permitted.
Ledger is not for children
You must be at least 13 years old to use Ledger, as stated in our Terms & Conditions. The app is designed for adults and older teenagers settling everyday debts within a group they were invited into. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account.
How the design limits risk
Ledger is deliberately small in ways that matter here:
- Invite only. There is no open sign-up and no way to discover or contact strangers. Every member was invited by someone already in their group, and each invite works once. There is no public profile, feed, search of strangers, or open messaging.
- No open content sharing. The only image a user can add is a single profile photo, visible only to the small group they share a ledger with. There is no photo feed, no direct image messaging, and no public gallery.
- Real names and a traceable invite chain. Membership is tied to a verified phone number and to whoever issued the invite, so accounts are not anonymous within their group.
Prohibited conduct
Using Ledger, you must never:
- Upload, store, share or link to CSAM, in a profile photo or anywhere else in the app.
- Sexualise, groom, solicit, or exploit a minor, or attempt to.
- Use Ledger to facilitate, arrange or conceal any offence against a child.
How to report
If you see a profile photo or any behaviour that may involve a child, report it immediately:
- In the app — open the person's profile and use Report. Choose the reason that fits (for example, an explicit or abusive profile photo). You can also block the person from the same screen.
- By email — write to developer@l3dger.xyz with the subject Child safety report. Reports about child safety are treated as urgent.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
How we respond
Reports of child safety concerns are prioritised over every other kind of report. When we become aware of CSAM or CSAE on Ledger, we:
- Remove the content — an offending profile photo is taken down as soon as we confirm it.
- Remove the person's access. Our normal policy is not to suspend accounts, because each account is one side of another person's record of what they are owed. Child safety is the exception: we revoke access for anyone who uploads CSAM or exploits a child. The underlying ledger entries are retained only in anonymised form, so no other member's balance is silently altered, while the offender can no longer use the service.
- Preserve evidence and report to authorities (below).
Reporting to authorities
We comply with applicable child safety laws. Apparent CSAM is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org, which forwards reports to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. We preserve related records as required and cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
Anyone can also report suspected child exploitation to NCMEC directly at report.cybertip.org or, in the United States, by calling 1-800-843-5678.
